PEC
A Pre Export Certificate (PEC) is an official document issued by a country's relevant authority, confirming that specific items or shipments comply with legal and regulatory requirements for export, especially in relation to wildlife or plant products that fall under international regulations such as CITES. The PEC verifies that the items being exported meet all conditions and have been legally sourced or produced according to the standards set by local and international laws.
In the context of CITES, a PEC is often needed to demonstrate that wildlife specimens or plant materials destined for export were obtained in a way that does not harm the survival of the species or violate trade restrictions. This certificate is an important step in the supply chain for exporters to avoid legal issues and ensure compliance with international conservation and trade regulations.
The PEC helps both authorities and traders maintain transparency and traceability in the movement of protected species, ensuring sustainable trade practices.
This also applies for pests and diseases that are often found in the Country of Origin or are often found in particulair plants.
PEC does not mean that the plants are prohibited, but rather that before they will be inspected at our location, they will be inspected at the growers location as well for the relevant diseases. This often costs less money and takes less time. However, this must be agreed upon in advance with the grower, and there will be a lead time of a maximum of 2 weeks (often less).
